Spain – The “María Auxiliadora” Salesian Choir of Seville: a community of values

(ANS – Seville) – The children’s and youth choir at Holy Trinity Salesian house in Seville, with over 25 years’ experience in sacred polyphony, serves the religious traditions of the entire community. Holy Week, in particular, is the favourite time when the children and young people of the Salesian Choir offer their time and talents to help the faithful and devotees from across the city celebrate the sacred rites prescribed by the liturgy and to lead the traditional processions.

The Salesian Choir is a children’s and youth music formation founded in 1999 at the Salesian House of the Holy Trinity, dedicated to the musical and personal development of children and young people, and to providing musical accompaniment for the city’s major religious, confraternity and civic events.

The Rector of the Salesian house, Fr Miguel Canino, states: “Our choir is not merely a collection of voices; it is an educational, pastoral and musical project born from the heart of Don Bosco, in which music becomes a path of human, spiritual and communal growth. Every rehearsal, every performance and every gathering is an opportunity to learn, share and serve through music.”

The Salesian Choir’s constant presence at processions, services, concerts and institutional celebrations highlights the serious, consistent and dedicated work within the city’s musical, cultural and religious tradition that the Salesians in Seville have been carrying out with perseverance for over twenty-five years now.

At present, the participation of the María Auxiliadora Salesian Choir in Seville’s Holy Week processions is notable for its music, which becomes an authentic prayer. The choir has already taken part in the processions and sacred services on 27, 28 and 30 March, and in the traditional accompaniment of the Most Holy Christ of the Crowning with Thorns on the evening of Holy Thursday, 2 April 2026.
